2.3L EcoBoost Mustang
The EcoBoost four-cylinder makes impressive power — 310 hp stock — and needs plugs that handle boost pressure reliably. Motorcraft SP-520 plugs are the OEM choice and work extremely well. NGK Iridium IX are a popular OEM-spec alternative.
5.0L Coyote V8
The Coyote V8 loves premium iridium plugs. Motorcraft SP-515 (OEM spec) or NGK TR6 copper plugs are both trusted in the Mustang community. Many owners running stock or mildly modified 5.0s swear by the Motorcraft OEM plugs for perfect idle and throttle response.
Modified Mustangs
If you're running a supercharger, turbo, or E85, your spark plug needs change. You'll generally want a colder heat range plug. Consult your tuner for the right specification before purchasing.
Service Interval
Ford recommends 60,000 miles for iridium plugs on the Mustang. With the EcoBoost in particular, don't stretch it too far — boosted engines can foul plugs more quickly under hard use.
