Best Spark Plugs for Jeep Wrangler: JK, JL, and Rubicon
Share
Jeep Wrangler owners push their vehicles hard — trail driving, rock crawling, and off-road adventures demand an ignition system that doesn't quit. Here's what to run in your JK or JL Wrangler.
Wrangler Engine Variants
3.6L Pentastar V6 (JK & JL)
The 3.6L Pentastar is the most common Wrangler engine. NGK Iridium IX and Champion Iridium are both excellent choices. The Pentastar runs hot under hard use, so high-quality iridium is worth the investment.
2.0L Turbocharged (JL)
Jeep's newer 2.0T eTorque engine benefits from NGK Laser Iridium plugs. The boosted engine needs plugs that resist fouling under varied load conditions — especially when crawling at low RPMs on trail.
6.4L HEMI (Rubicon 392)
The fire-breathing 392 deserves nothing but premium iridium. Champion Iridium or NGK Iridium IX plugs handle the HEMI's high compression with ease.
How Trail Driving Affects Spark Plugs
Low-speed crawling creates carbon buildup faster than highway driving. If you wheel regularly, inspect your plugs every 20,000–30,000 miles even if they're rated for longer intervals.
