Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave: Spark Plug Guide

Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave: Spark Plug Guide

GM's Lambda platform crossovers — the Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave — share the same 3.6L V6 engine family. Here's what you need to know about maintaining the ignition system in these popular family vehicles.

3.6L LFX and LGX V6

These V6 engines are found throughout GM's crossover lineup. ACDelco Professional Iridium plugs are the OEM specification. The 3.6L is a sophisticated engine with direct injection (on newer variants) — quality plugs are especially important on DI engines where combustion must be precise.

Rear Spark Plug Access Challenge

The rear bank of plugs on the 3.6L transverse V6 in these crossovers is notoriously difficult to access. It typically requires removing the intake manifold or upper engine cover and working through limited space. Many owners choose to have this done professionally for this reason, while doing the accessible front bank themselves.

Service Interval

ACDelco specifies 60,000-mile service for the iridium plugs in these engines. Don't push significantly beyond this — the 3.6L with DI is particular about plug condition for smooth idle and clean combustion.

2.0L Turbo Option

Some model years offered a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder. ACDelco iridium plugs spec'd for the boosted 2.0T apply here, with a shorter 45,000-mile service interval recommended.
